It's an illusion. The red one is 8 blocks to 3 blocks, and the blue one is 5 blocks to 2 blocks. They're not similar.

If you look at it not on here, but compare it by overlapping it, the one with the space in it has more of an incline in the middle side of the triangle, making that where the space is going.

The red triangles are the same size in both pics. WTF?

I must be an idiot. The red triangle is 8 blocks long at it's longest and 3 blocks high at it's tallest. They look the same to me from what I can tell. Anyone clarify further?

I'm not seeing it. Both red triangles in both figures appear to be exactly the same, 8 blocks by 3 blocks.
